Purposes of and legal basis for data processing

In the context of public relations activities, Institut für Rechtsinformatik (IRI), Institut für Philosophie (IPhil) and Institut für Informationsverarbeitung of Leibniz University Hannover intend to take and publish photographs that may also depict you. This means that your personal data will be processed.

Photographs will be stored, processed and published to report the conference on the official website of the university and the involved institutes as well as social media pages of the involved institutes.

Photographs may be stored and tagged in an internal university database, and be viewed and processed for further use by signed-in staff members of the above-mentioned organisational unit, in accordance with your declaration of consent.

The collection and publication of data is subject to your consent according to Article 6, subsection 1, letter (a), Article 7 GDPR, and sections 22 and 23 of the German copyright act for visual arts (KUG).

Revoking consent

You may revoke your consent to the processing of your data at any time, with future effect. In this case, we will no longer process those data and erase them from our systems. Lawful processing of data up until revocation of consent will remain unaffected. You may revoke your consent by sending an informal letter or email to the above-mentioned data controller.

Obligation to provide personal data

You are not obliged to provide personal data and may object to and revoke your consent to the processing of data at any time.

Recipient(s)

When photographs are published on the internet or in printed material, they are made accessible to the public.

If you have given your consent, the photographs and/or videos will be used for public relations purposes in print media for the social media outlets of Leibniz University Hannover (Facebook: Leibniz Universität; IRI – Institut für Rechtsinformatik), and, therefore, be shared with the providers and users of those media.

Storage period

Photographs and/or videos published in the context of the university’s public relations activities will be stored for an indefinite period of time, subject to revocation of consent as well as the right to erasure and the right to object.

Unpublished photographs and videos will be stored electronically for a period of three years and will then be destroyed.

Rights of data subjects according to Articles 15-21 GDPR

You have the right to obtain from the above-mentioned data controller confirmation as to which of your personal data are processed. You may request rectification and erasure of the data. You may request that the processing of your personal data be restricted under certain conditions (e.g. in cases where the accuracy of your data is not confirmed). Your data may then only be processed in a restricted fashion.

You may contact the responsible data controller to object to the processing of your personal data on grounds relating to your particular situation.

You also have the right to receive the data you have provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.

Right to complain

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the responsible supervisory authority of your choice if you believe that the processing of photographs and videos concerning you infringes the General Data Protection Regulation.

The responsible supervisory authority is:
