Location
The Leibnizhaus in Hanover is a historic building named after the renowned philosopher and mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, who lived in Hannover for many years. Originally built in 1499, the house was destroyed during World War II and later reconstructed in the 1980s. Today, it serves as a conference venue and a reminder of the city's rich intellectual and architectural heritage. Located in the heart of the old town, it can be reached easily by different transport options.
The central station can be reached by foot in about 10 minutes’ time. The subway (station ‘Markthalle/ Landtag’) and a bus
stop (‘Friedrichswall’) are right around the corner. From the central station, an ‘S-Bahn’ will take you to the airport in 25
minutes.
Reaching Leibnizhaus from the Central Station:
Take subway number 3, 7, or 9 (in the direction of Wettbergen, Empelde)
to the second stop (‘Markthalle/ Landtag’). Leave the subway station at the exit towards ‘Marktkirche’. Walk past the
church and then turn left into ‘Kramerstraße’. At the end of the street, you will find the ‘Holzmarkt’, the fountain and the
historical facade of Leibnizhaus.
If you are arriving by car:
The best place to park is in the parking garage at Schmiedestr. 13, from there it is about a 4-minute walk to the Leibnizhaus.
